Domaine de Thulon Beaujolais-Villages Regnie

Domaine de Thulon Beaujolais-Villages Regnie

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The grapes are sourced from vineyards with an average age of 45 years.
  • The grapes originate from a 4 hectare site located on a hilside near the domaine with granite soils and a south-west sun exposure.

Varietal Composition: 100% Gamay

Elaboration: Manual harvest with 80% of the fruit destemmed before crush. Alcoholic fermentation in vats with aging on the fine lees. Light filtration before bottling at the estate.

Tasting Notes: Brilliant ruby-red. Intensely perfumed red berry and floral pastille scents, along with suave Asian spice and mineral flourishes. Fresh, energetic and sharply focused raspberry and spicecake flavors deepen with air while maintaining vivacity. In a distinctly suave style, offering a seamless texture and a long, berry-tinged finish that betrays no rough edges.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

This farm is located on the old estate of Château de Thulon (15th century) and was purchased by Annie and René Jambon in 1987 after they were “métayers” for 20 years there. Their children Carine and Laurent are now running the estate, and a passion for experimentation sets them apart from peers in the region. These are some of the best values in French wine we’ve come across in the last decade.
