Varietal Composition: Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvgnon, Syrah

Elaboration: The grapes were harvested in the third week of October at their optimum ripening point in 15 kg boxes. The selected fruit was chosen by the same wise hands that did it the previous year. The grapes corresponding to each variety were macerated in contact with the skin and fermented for 20/30 days at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. It spends 12 months in new French and American oak barrels before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Intense cherry-red color with violet shades. Delicate black fruit aroma with high roast and smoky features. Structured, ripe, and sweet tannins marked by elegance.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Ego Bodegas is a Spanish winery located in Jumilla, a region known for its hot, dry climate and high-altitude vineyards. The winery is relatively new, established in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Santos Ortiz and Ioana Paunescu, with the goal of producing high-quality wines at affordable prices. The operation boasts 35 hectares (86 acres) of vineyard, predominantly planted to 50+ year old, ungrafted, bush vines with the Monastrell (Mourvèdre) grape. Their wines are known for being deeply fruity, concentrated, and highly perfumed.

Each bottle of wine from Ego bodegas carries the principles on which the winery was founded upon: Ego, Talento, and Infinito.
