Ego Bodegas Gorú 38 Barrels
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The wine is made exclusively and carefully from 38 barrels selected for 12 months.
- An Organic modern classic from Jumilla.
- Why have organically grown wines from Jumilla become a “thing?” Because they are dark in color, loaded with fruit, and delicious! Produced from organically grown grapes.
- Vegan certified.
Varietal Composition: 100% Monastrell
Elaboration: Made from selected grapes, collected manually and with great care in small quantity boxes. A cold maceration is carried out for a week to extract the greatest amount of aromatic and color components, helped by the pigeage method for a controlled and regulated extraction.
The malolactic fermentation takes place in the 38 new barrels. With temperature control to ensure a good development of the entire ageing process in French and American oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Intense aroma of ripe black fruits with a pleasant touch of spices and smoky notes with sweet vanilla notes. Fine and elegant tannins accompanied by aromas of red fruits that end in a round and persistent finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Ego Bodegas is a Spanish winery located in Jumilla, a region known for its hot, dry climate and high-altitude vineyards. The winery is relatively new, established in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Santos Ortiz and Ioana Paunescu, with the goal of producing high-quality wines at affordable prices. The operation boasts 35 hectares (86 acres) of vineyard, predominantly planted to 50+ year old, ungrafted, bush vines with the Monastrell (Mourvèdre) grape. Their wines are known for being deeply fruity, concentrated, and highly perfumed.
Each bottle of wine from Ego bodegas carries the principles on which the winery was founded upon: Ego, Talento, and Infinito.
Ego : The concept of I. Talento : The ability to perform and carry out a task. Infinito : The power to dream without borders.
