El Escocés Volante Manda Huevos

El Escocés Volante Manda Huevos

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Classic field blend of two historic parcels from the paraje of Caña Andrea. The Caña Andrea parcel, full of pudding stones and deep, well-drained clays and gravels, performed superbly in the hot growing season to produce a fresh, well balanced crop.

Varietal Composition: 94% Syrah, 6% Viognier

Elaboration: Crushed to tank layer cake fashion with 20% whole bunch. Fermented together in an open top 5 tonne fermenter, with punch downs only for gentle extraction, malolactic fermentation partly on skins before pressing to a combination of 3 flextank eggs of 875 liters and one old 650 liter French oak barrel. Aged for 14 months sur lie before assemblage in concrete and bottling. Released after 18 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes: A complex wine with notes of red fruits, bright acidity and a long smoky finish. A very elegant Garnacha.
