Gen5 Pinot Noir
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Gen 5 Pinot Noir is sourced from Lange Twins Winery: 49% Dutra Vineyards, 42% Maria Solano, and 9% from other vineyards.
- The average age of the vines is 15 years.
- Sustainably farmed and aged in oak for 6 months.
Varietal Composition: 86% Pinot Noir, 7% Syrah, 3% Viognier, 2% Tannat, 1% other red varietals
Elaboration: After crushing the grapes, they cold soak for 2 to 3 days. Fermentation occurs at cooler temperatures with a yeast selected for premium Pinot Noir. Once dry, the grapes are pressed, and the wine ages in tanks with a small amount of French oak to enhance flavors and mouthfeel. Finally, the wine is blended for added complexity.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of plums, raspberries, and black cherries with notes of mocha, cola, and vanilla. Medium-bodied, soft tannins, balanced, integrated sweet oak with a lingering red fruit finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
For five generations (since the 1870’s) the Lange family has lived and worked their land in Lodi, California, always striving to leave the land in a better state for the next generation. Johann and Maria Lange started out as watermelon farmers. The family moved into grape growing in 1916. Today, their vineyards are certified green by Lodi Rules Sustainable Wine-growing.
