Lomita Grenache Rosé

Lomita Grenache Rosé

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Lomita Grenache Rosé is grown on the Valle de Guadalupe Estate vineyard which is a organically farmed and sustainable vineyard with clay and granite soils.
  • It is a refreshing light bodied wine that comes from the first press juice of the grapes harvested from the old vines of the Pagano vineyard.
  • While this vintage carries on the decadence of the Pagano name, the winemaking team found a way to factor a higher level of internal structure and brighter red berry notes into the mix.

Varietal Composition: 100% Grenache

Elaboration: Fermented in stainless steel tanks with skins and seeds for 3 weeks then racked to 1st use French oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Notes: Cherry Jolly Rancher is sometimes thrown out as a flavor found in Rosés, but you really haven’t experienced that at its peak until you’ve tasted this wine. With a initial attack that makes you think the wine will finish sweet, it follows up with that taught zing of acidity that makes candies like Sourpatch Kids so delicious. It’s all in the tang!

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Hacienda La Lomita was founded in 2009 by Fernando Pérez Castro in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe, Baja, Mexico, north of Ensenada and approximately nine miles from the Pacific near the village of San Antonio de las Minas.

The winery and its estate vineyards are on a northwestern-facing slope in the ejido of Francisco Zarco. Ejido refers to village lands that are communally held in a traditional system of land tenure that combines communal ownership with individual use. The estate grows some of the region’s oldest vines.

The estate has practiced organic viticulture since 2012 and is one of the region’s few certified organic wineries. The vineyard sits at about 1,000 feet in elevation with a soil profile consisting of a mix of clay and granite.
