Jean Laurent Blanc De Blancs Reserve

Jean Laurent Blanc De Blancs Reserve

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Laurent family is one of the oldest wine makers in the region. The Jean Laurent house has been producing quality Champagne wines for three generations in accordance with the terroir, using traditional methods.
  • They believe in sustainable agriculture and limit/adapt treatments following the evolution of the land’s needs.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: Blanc De Blancs Reserve is made from Chardonnay grapes, blended from 4 vintages and aged for several years. The variety brings finesse and delicateness to the Champagne.

Tasting Notes: The nose is elegant and pleasing with notes of butter and “viennoiseries” (croissants). These notes are combined with touches of ripe lemon and fresh almond. The attack on the palate is fresh with hints of white fruit.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Jean Laurent Champagnes are produced from organic, estate-grown grapes. Varieties grown on the 16 hectares include Pinot Noir (70%), Chardonnay (30%), Pinot Blanc (10%). Clay-limestone Kimmeridgian soil dominates the area, which has been used as a vineyard for more than 2,000 years.

The winery practices sustainable agriculture with limited treatments and no glyphosate or pesticides. Vinification relies on classic methods such as alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. Patience (in place of heating-and-cooling technologies) allows for the wines to fully develop.
