Joleté Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Summit View Vineyard
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Summit View Vineyard sits at a Northeastern slope, 1200-ft. in elevation on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley.
- Planted in 2009, with 67 acres of vines planted of six Cabernet Sauvignon clones grown in nutrient-rich Ellingford Silt Loam, atop a base of fractured basalt.
- The vineyard’s location provides excellent air movement, resulting in frost-free conditions to grow bold yet balanced Cabernet Sauvignon.
Varietal Composition: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Elaboration: Traditional fermentation in Stainless steel with native yeast. The wine ages for 18 months in French oak.
Tasting Notes: Aromatics of mulberry, black cherry, and Asian spices give way to a palate of boysenberry delicately laced with sweet vanilla. The structure is focused and spicy with balanced acidity and soft tannins which lead to a lingering finish of black raspberry with a hint of chocolate. Accessible and showing well now but will develop and age gracefully over the next five years.
