Kelley Fox Wines Pinot Noir Durant Vineyard

Kelley Fox Wines Pinot Noir Durant Vineyard

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Kelley Fox’s Pinot Noir from Durant Vineyard is an Oregon wine from the Dundee Hills AVA.
  • The wine is made from old vine, self-rooted Pommard grapes planted in 1974, as well as Bishop Block Pommard franç de pied vines planted in 1984.
  • The Dundee Hills region is known for its ancient marine soil, a rare type found within the volcanic Jory soil area.
  • Durant Vineyard practices organic and biodynamic farming.

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: Winemaking involves aging in neutral Burgundy barrels, which have a capacity of 228 liters and are crafted from tight-grain wood sourced from French forests.

Tasting Notes: The Durant is medium-dark, youthful, rich ruby-red with beautiful light and transparency. It has the classic Dundee Hills nose of perfectly sun-ripe Oregon strawberries and subtle spices along with soft minerals. The mouth is the same, with a delicious sappiness and luxe texture without the heaviness. The structure is there in a way that is more pixelated than linear at the time of this tasting. Long finish.
