Kelley Fox Wines Pinot Noir Stater Vineyard
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The Stater Vineyard is located in the Dundee Hills A.V.A. The Dundee Hills region is renowned for its exceptional wines.
- The Stater Vineyard, established in 1987, is owned by Sylvia Stater and her late husband Wayne, both multi-generation Oregonians.
- The grapes come from the Bishop Block Pommard franc de pied vines, which were planted in 1973 and 1984, making them over 40 years old.
Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Elaboration: Winemaking involves aging in neutral Burgundy barrels, which have a capacity of 228 liters and are crafted from tight-grain wood sourced from French forests.
Tasting Notes: A medium-dark red with youthful brilliance, transparency, and lovely plays of light. The gorgeous nose is filled with ripe, red berries and cherries with minerals and spices. Already, just on the nose, there is beautiful depth that continues in the mouth on a detailed frame of serious structure. This is a high-relief Pinot that offers depth and richness. There are some very subtle, delicious savory components that balance the fruit. It has nice acidity and a long, clean, silky finish that delivers the details to the end.
