King Rabbit

King Rabbit’s fruit comes from the IGP Pays d’Oc appellation in Languedoc-Roussillon, in the south of France — hilly terroir that sits at the crossroads of three climates: Mediterranean, continental, and Oceanic. Fresh breezes off the Pyrenees and morning mists carried in from the Atlantic give the vineyards an unusual freshness for the region, sharpening the aromatic precision of the fruit. Grapes are drawn from a network of low-yield, organically farmed vineyards across the appellation — Cinsault and Grenache from dry, mineral-rich soils along the Mediterranean coast go into the rosé, while Malbec, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and other varietals are grown further inland.

The wines are produced by LGI Wines, a Languedoc-based producer that works in close partnership with independent growers across the Languedoc and Gascony regions rather than farming a single estate. Organically grown fruit is one of the core options LGI offers across its brands, alongside lower-alcohol and unoaked styles and a continued push toward more sustainable packaging. A team of seven winemakers oversees production to keep quality consistent across the range.

King Rabbit is one of several export-focused brands from LGI Wines, a producer founded in Carcassonne in 1999 with a stated goal of offering distinctive, well-made labels at accessible prices. Rather than a single-family estate, the brand is built on LGI’s long-standing partnerships with growers across a region that, together with Gascony, accounts for close to 30% of France’s total wine production. The name draws on an old vineyard tradition: along the Mediterranean coast, winegrowers once read the presence of rabbits in the vines as a sign of a healthy, thriving environment, and King Rabbit takes its name from that symbol as a nod to sustainable farming and biodiversity preservation.
