Kontos Cellars Syrah
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Sourced from premier vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley, Kontos Cellars Syrah is an excellent red wine that highlights the rich terroir of the region.
- This region is increasingly recognized for its outstanding Rhône varietals.
- Kontos Cellars has skillfully crafted this Syrah to emphasize not only the fruit but also the terroir, adding subtle earthy undertones and a velvety texture that exemplify the richness and complexity characteristic of Syrah.
Varietal: 100% Syrah
Tasting Notes: Deep purple-crimson colored, this Syrah emits intoxicating aromas of wild dark fruits – blackberries, mountain blueberries, brambly black currants – with scents of crushed black roses, bayberry, pipe tobacco, lavender, olive tapenade, violets and spiced sweet incense. The flavors are thick and lavish yet refined, with black and blue fruits that are infused with licorice, dark chocolate, extra dark roasted coffee beans and Les Collines silty minerals. On the back, the wine invigorates further, with sensations of macerated berries, nougat, crème de cassis, blueberry preserves and charcoal. The lasting finish is, again, simultaneously vigorous and refined, marked by bright fruit acids and ripe tannins.
