La Reserve Saint Dominique Rasteau

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Vines are 20 – 35 years old on a plot of land at the foot of Mont Ventoux at 1500 ft elevation.
  • Higher altitude coupled with superb sun exposure produces fruit of exceptional quality rarely found at this price-point.
  • Serve at 17°C, to be enjoyed within 3 years after the year of the vintage.

Varietal Composition: 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre

Elaboration: The grapes are grown on clay-limestone soil on marl and clay on sandstone soils. Tradition vinification. fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats after a short maceration period. The wine spends time in neutral oak and bottle before being released.

Tasting Notes: Deep red color with pretty purplish reflections. Intense and expressive nose. Very nice length in the mouth with a particularly pleasant finish. Black fruits (blackcurrant). On the palate it is dense, round and ample. Aromatic richness with spicy accents, the tannins are supple. Elegant wine of remarkable finesse.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Eric Bonnet, winemaker in Courthézon – La Bastide Saint Dominique – AOP Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône, Cairanne – decided to create La Réserve Saint Dominique in order to offer his clients a selection of Rhone Valley Crus and Wines to complement the current range he produces. Willing to preserve his cultural ethics (to the benefit of the balance), the cuvées of La Reserve Saint Dominique allow much room for fruits, a good balance, in short, sheer pleasure for the palate. Aged for the majority in stainless steel tanks to favor the crunchiness of wines, the wines highlight the typicity of each terroir and are carefully selected for the greatest pleasure of the consumer.
