Lamadrid Bonarda ‘Reserva’
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Lamadrid Bonarda ‘Reserva’ is crafted from 100% estate-grown grapes sourced from Lamadrid Estate Vineyard in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo.
- This vineyard, established in 1999, benefits from clay and sandy loam soil and is nurtured with organic drip irrigation, which contributes to the high quality of the grapes.
- The vineyard is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level.
Varietals: 100% Bonarda
Elaboration: Hand-picked grapes undergo cold maceration at 7ºC for 4 days, followed by alcoholic fermentation 50 % is carried out in stainless steel tanks and 50% in concrete pools with native yeasts for 23 days at 28-30ºC. Daily punching down. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels for 20 days. 12 months in second and third French oak barrels prior to release. This wine has not been clarified, filtered, nor cold stabilized.
Tasting Notes: Rather ripe and subtle nose for the humble Bonarda grape. Then real depth and abundance of healthy tannins, generous on the palate and a firm and long finish without a trace of hardness.
