Mas des Flauzieres Gigondas Blanc La Quintessence

Mas des Flauzières Gigondas Blanc “La Quintessence”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Mas des Flauzières Gigondas Blanc “La Quintessence” vineyards are located in the Gigondas AOC appllation.
  • The vineyard is located on southwest-facing slopes and terraces in the ferraces in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montymirail, on soils of sandy marl, massive bituminous limestone and ferruginous clayey sands from the Tertiary Oligoncene.

Varietal Composition: 70% Clairette, 30% Roussanne

Elaboration: Wine produced by traditional low-temperature vinification (1 5 ° C) (the clairettes in amphoras and Roussannes in 600-litre demi-muids) to obtain the fruitiest, most complex as fruity and complex as possible.

Tasting Notes: Attractive, bright golden yellow color. The nose is rich and intense, with floral notes of acacia, mixed with candied lemon and mineral notes. The palate is fleshy and fresh, very fruity, with a lovely freshness and a long finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Mas des Flauzières is a farm which belonged to the Château d’Entrechaux in the Middle Ages. Since 1919, it has been owned and operated by the Benoît family. The old winery building near Vaison la Romaine in southern France is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux, which at 6,263 feet is called the Giant of Provence. In past Tour de France races, the mountain has provided a challenge for even the most experienced riders.

In 2002, Jérôme Benoît, following studies in agronomy and oenology, opened a wine cellar to market his wines. The property extends through several villages from Mont Ventoux to the protection of Dentelles de Montmirail – a small mountain chain. The estate has the advantage of ranging over several appellations, including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Séguret, Ventoux, and Côtes du Rhône Villages.
