Leogate Semillion

Leogate Brokenback Semillon

  • The Gatecrasher Semillon is sourced from old vines that produce a premium wine year-after-year.
  • This wine can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 10 years providing age complexity with careful cellaring.

Varietal Composition: 100% Semillon

Elaboration: The Brokenback Semillon is sourced from 50-year-old vines planted using the VSP (vertical shoot positioning) trellis design on well-drained sandy loam soils with drip irrigation installed on each fine row. The vineyard yield is 2.5 tons per acre or equivalent to 6 tons per hectare. There is no oak treatment and it is harvested early to capture the crisp citrus flavors with refreshing acidity.

Tasting Notes: The palate of the Brokenback Semillon displays elegant mineral elements with refreshing and crisp lime flavors present. The acid structure is vibrant and lively as a young wine, which soften and gains complexity with age. It can be cellared up to 10 years. The Semillon is pale straw with green tinged hues. It has delicate hints of lime and lemongrass.
