Lobo Hills Dry Riesling

Lobo Hills Dry Riesling

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This Riesling was slow fermented on yeast cultivated from Alsace, France.
  • The grapes were 100% sourced from Lonesome Springs Ranch, Benton City.
  • Drink now or cellar it for up to 20 years.

Varietal: 100% Riesling

Elaboration: The Riesling grapes were machine harvested and spent more than 10 hours on the skins, a critical process in thie Rieslings development. It was 100% stainless steel fermented, arrested by mouth feel (not by chemical analysis), then racked off lees immediately. It then aged five months in steel.

Tasting Notes: Lovely aromas: apricot skins, white peaches, and honeysuckle. On the palate, this Riesling has a rounded quality, giving way to flavors of apricots, melons, and peaches.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

While honeymooning in Napa Valley, Tony and Diana Dollar decided they would like to open a winery there someday. Had Tony, an avid biker, not been struck by a car thirty years later, their dream may never have become a reality. While recuperating from multiple injuries, the couple reevaluated their priorities and seized the opportunity to change their trajectory and invest in Lobo Hills, a Woodenville, Washington winery.

Lobo Hills, named after Tony’s childhood rescue dog, takes a minimalist approach to winemaking, most closely resembling the French tradition. They use no additives or chemical intervention, minimize sulfates, the wines are unfined and unfiltered and they use the grape’s natural acidity as much as possible.
