Lunaria Coste di Moro

Lunaria Costa di Moro Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo

  • If you like your Montepulciano very juicy and fruit forward, then look no further than this raucous bottling.

Varietal Composition: 100% Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo

Elaboration: The grapes, after a careful selection, are de-stemmed and crushed; the skins are left in contact with the must and their indigenous yeasts for 10-15 days at a constant temperature of 77/82° F. Part in oak barrels and part in stainless steel tanks for at least four months. Ageing in bottle follows

Tasting Notes: Impenetrable ruby red color, the nose is intense of red fruit and black cherry jam, light notes of cocoa and toasted complete its bouquet. The palate is warm, fairly tannic, soft, intense, with the typical almond finish.

Cantina Orsogna is a (very) progressive cooperative of thirty one growers in Italy’s central province of Abruzzo. The company was one of the first of its kind to move to 100% organic farming back in 2002, and they are the largest Biodynamic wine producer in Italy, having been certified by Demeter since 2005. We are currently working with their fruit-forward, sometimes experimental “Lunaria” line which showcases single varietal bottlings from grapes well-suited to the climate of the coastal Terre di Chieti subregion.
