Misty Cove Landmark Grüner Veltliner

Misty Cove Landmark Grüner Veltliner

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The fruit for this Grüner was sourced from their flagship Estate Fareham Lane Vineyard.
  • This vineyard is located in the central Wairau plain.
  • The development of this vineyard commenced in 1996, subsequently providing an older vine age, this helps with continuity of product and consistency of expression.

Varietal Composition: 100% Grüner Veltliner

Elaboration: Hand harvested and gently processed into the winery; the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. The wine was allowed to age gracefully on yeast lees for 3 months before being lightly filtered and bottled.

Tasting Notes: Complex, round and rich, with notes of orange, ripe stone fruit and white pepper. The palate is beautifully weighted and rounded. It is texturally appealing with lovely fruit vibrancy, leading to long and engaging finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

If you know us well at Grape you know of our Dutch connections, and everyone in the Dutch wine trade knows Andrew Bailey as the remarkable professional cricket player who built an equally successful wine distribution business while living there during his sporting career. Andrew grew up in New Zealand, has returned home, and farms 242 hectares of vineyard in what he likes to call the misty coves of Marlborough. We’ve never come across this level of quality of Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc for the price.
