Monmousseau Cremant de Loire Rose Brut
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Hand-harvested, classical Cremant de Loire with bass notes from Cabernet Franc and real personality due to the high proportion of Pineau d’Aunis in the mix!
Varietal Composition: 70% Cabernet Franc 30% Pineau d’aunis
Elaboration: Manual harvesting of the grapes. Champagne-like pressing without chains or helical screw so as to avoid any damaging of the grapes. The final blend remained on lees in their cellars 18 months before disgorgment.
Tasting Notes: Lovely pink to salmon color. Lively but not aggressive. Bright in the mouth, slightly acidulous. Lots of red fruits with a bit of pepper.
Monmousseau is without question the Loire Valley’s most famous producer of sparkling wines. The winery was founded in 1886 with extensive vineyard holdings above ground and 15 kilometers of underground tunnels for fermentation and aging below them. Cremant de Touraine is something of a house specialty, as the were originally responsible for the creation of the Cremant de Touraine category. We are proudly working with a broad array of sparkling wines from Monmousseau, along with still examples of Vouvray and Cabernet Franc.
