  • Grapes are hand-harvested.

Varietal Composition: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon

Elaboration: Moschioni Rosso Celtico Colli Orientali is harvested by hand. It is aged several months in barriques, and 48 months in large oak barrels and then bottle aged for 12 months. The color is solid ruby red with violet reflections. It ages 12 months in barriques, 48 months in large oak barrels followed by 12 months of bottle-ageing.

Tasting Notes: Moschioni Rosso Celtico Collli Orientali has a very wide nose of berries, chocolate cherry, violets and a mild spicy note of star anise. Afterwards it displays fully developed aromas of leather, sealing wax, Kentucky tobacco and black coffee. It is a full-bodied wine with sweet tannin and plenty of extract to balance out the whole structure. It is juicy and rich with a surprising lush style.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

In 1989, Michael Michioni took over the Michioni Winery and decided to stake everything on the production of red wines, in an area where while wines are almost exclusively produced. He started producing native vines, almost forgotten, such as the Pignolo, the Scoppiettino, Refosco and Tezzelenghe. The vineyards have adopted organic farming and everything has to be grown and farmed as naturally as possible. The wines produced by the winery are stunning, powerful, and elegant.  Today, Michael is assisted by his son, and two daughters who inherited their father’s passion for producing quality wines.
