Nicolas Millet Sancerre “La Marne”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- These vineyards date back to the 1700s, Pierre Millet created the Domaine in the 1930’s. Nicolas Millet is the 9th generation winemaker on the property.
- Nicolas Millet Sancerre La Marne Blanc is produced from grapes grown in the Bué et Vinon village, on the Le Crot à l’Ane vineyard, which is located in the in the Sancerre AOC. The plots are spread over the hillsides surrounding the village.
- It has an elevation of 280 meters. The soils are 100% argile kimeridgienne and the vineyard has a Southeast exposure.
- The vine age is 45 years.
- Nicolas Millet practices organic/biodynamic farming.
Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Elaboration: Fertilized with composted manure, the vines are Guyot Poussard pruned and disbudded, green harvesting. The grapes slowly go through pneumatic press. No sulfur is added. It is aged on lees for 12 months in stainless steel vats. Light filtration and gravity bottled.
Tasting Notes: The bouquet has a slight citrus fruit, some soft green and herbaceous notes are promptly followed by peach flower and rosewater. This complex but well balanced wine is a great example of Sancerre.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
The vineyards of Nicolas Millet in the Sancerre Appellation of Loire have been providing outstanding grapes since the 1700s. The brothers Bernard and Pierre Millet acquired the land and began a family adventure in winemaking that has thrived and continues to the present day.
After studying wine in the legendary wine-producing region of Beaune, Nicolas Millet (son of François), took over the estate in 2010. Nicolas has continued the practice of respecting the traditions of wine-making while using innovative ideas. This includes organic, biodynamic, and regenerative agriculture farming techniques. The estate received its organic qualification in 2021.
