Varietal Composition: 100% Grenache
Elaboration: Crack a bottle, crank the wood oven pizzas and rejoice- 180 years on, and Grenache has finally reached the height of McLaren Vale cool. There was a significant lack of rain through winter and spring, and even though the temperatures were quite cool, the vines really needed the rainfall to set a decent crop. Leading to very low cropping vintages. Our old bush vine Grenache, as always, coped well with a small heatwaves just before harvest.
Tasting Notes: Red currant and sour cherry aromas abound melded with forest floor, Christmas spice, ironstone & nettle. Palate Lovely supple layers of sweet fruits and savory elements, chocolate dust and cranberry, all framed with crunchy tannins. Plenty of red fruit and sweet spice. Fresh and vibrant.
