Owen Roe ‘Rosa Mystica’ Cabernet Franc
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Owen Roe’s ‘Rosa Mystica’ Cabernet Franc is a red wine from the Yakima Valley in Washington.
- This cool climate Bordeaux style wine is produced from grapes grown on high-elevation vineyards, (Outlook, Red Willow, Union Gap) which benefit from cool evenings and warm days that help maintain the wine’s acidity.
- Rosa Mystica is more ‘Old World’ in nature and will age spectacularly well.
- The front label features a photo by David K. Brunn of Drumlane Abbey in County Cavan, Ireland. The cavern served as a refuge for nearly a thousand years before being destroyed by Oliver Cromwell’s forces. The patriot Owen Roe O’Neill sought solace there and died in 1649, also at the hands of Cromwell.
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Franc
Elaboration: This wine was cellared in 40% new French Oak barrels for 16 months.
Tasting Notes: The wine is aromatic and briary, with red fruits and forest floor flavors and dark cocoa notes on the finish.
