Owen Roe ‘Sinister Hand’ Rhone Blend
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Sinister Hand is a Rhône-style blend originating from the Columbia Valley, Washington.
- The vineyard is LIVE Certified*, meaning it focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, regenerative farming, and restoring ecosystems to protect wetlands and waterways.
- The wine’s name and label come from an old family legend about a rowing competition where a hand was severed to ensure victory.
Varietal: 44% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 19% Mourvedre, 14% Cinsaut
Elaboration: Fermented in stainless steel neutral French oak.
Tasting Notes: Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Owen Roe winery, located in the Pacific Northwest, is known for its high-quality, terroir-driven wines and deep Irish roots. Founded in 1999 by David O’Reilly and his wife, Angelica, the winery emphasizes minimal intervention and storytelling that reflects Irish culture. Named after 17th-century Irish patriot Owen Roe O’Neill, each wine label narrates a tale from Irish lore and family history.
The estate specializes in outstanding wines from the Willamette and Yakima Valleys, partnering with over a dozen vineyards for the finest fruit. They feature two distinct brands—Growers Guild and Corvidae Wine Co.—to complement the Owen Roe wines.
