Owen Roe ‘The Parting Glass’ Gewurztraminer
WHY WE LOVE IT
- This wine is crafted by Owen Roe winery, which emphasizes meticulous, traditional winemaking using organic materials with no herbicides or pesticides.
- Owen Roe’s “The Parting Glass” is a late-harvest dessert wine produced in the Yakima Valley of Washington.
- These Eastern Washington vineyards that were planted in 1982 have experienced a couple of decades of extreme temperatures, which have tended to shrivel the fruit on the vine providing optimal ripeness for a dessert wine.
-
The Parting Glass is an Irish custom and ballad – it is a tradition to toast those leaving a gathering or embarking on a journey.
Varietal: 100% Gewurztraminer
Elaboration: To create the perfect grape, Owen Roe employs girdling techniques to produce raisins, resulting in sweeter grapes. This 2-barrel blend was cellared in one new French and one neutral barrel for 7 months.
Tasting Notes: The wine is perfumed and rich.
