WHY WE LOVE IT
Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah
Elaboration: The fruit was destemmed and passed over our optical grape sorter, then partially crushed to tank. Fermentation was preceded by a short period of cold soaking. Fermentation temperatures reached 30°C and daily cap management varied from two to three pump-overs a day. Barrel maturation is in French oak barriques for 12 months or more of which 20% new.
Tasting Notes: The palate is elegant and plush. Fruit flavors of fresh red plum and blackberry, five spice and white pepper off the finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Paritua is located in the heart of the acclaimed Bridge Pa Triangle wine region of Hawke’s Bay, on the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The name Paritua refers to the Paritua Stream, which meanders gently through the vineyard. Paritua means the meandering stream above the ancient river.
The winery was founded by an American couple and planting of the vineyard began in 2003. The choice of rootstock was inspired by the wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux. In 2011, the winery was sold to an international company, which is committed to maintaining the high quality Paritua is known for.
