Petrussa S. Elena Schioppettino

Petrussa Schioppettino St. Elena

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This wine comes from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.
  • The appellation is Colli Orientali del Fruili.
  • The grapes are organically-grown and hand-harvested.

Varietal Composition:   100% Schioppettino

Elaboration:   Petrussa Schioppettino St. Elena grapes are planted in a particular sand and clay gravel soil, making this wine a special selection. It is developed using the Guyot training system. The grapes are harvested by hand in October and fermented in barrels for 18 months. They are aged in bottle for 8 months prior to being released.

Tasting Notes:   Refined, rich nose which evokes notes of butter, almond and brioche. Lively, elegant and balanced palate with good mouthful.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

It was 1986 when Paolo and Gianni Petrussa decided to dedicate their lives to the family farm, trying to follow up on the great work and commitment made during the two previous generations by their grandfather Giuseppe and, subsequently, by their father Celestino. The decision left Celestino and Giustina, their parents, speechless and it was not difficult to understand why: their choice mentally brought them back to their past, to the hard life in the fields and to the continuous deprivations due to the economic difficulties that rural life imposed.
