Ruby Vineyard Willamette Chardonnay

Ruby Vineyard Willamette Chardonnay

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Ripe & rich with enough complexity to last for days. This Chardonnay showcases the greatness of cool-climate viticulture.
  • This Chardonnay consists of Dijon clones 76, 95 and 96 which all are planted in Laurelwood soil in the Chehalem Mountains AVA in the Willamette Valley. The vines are planted at elevations of 400 – 950 feet.

Varietal Composition: 100% Chardonnay

Elaboration: Grapes are picked early for acidity and freshness. Whole clusters are pressed, and the juice settles for 24 hours. The wine ferments in stainless steel and French oak with occasional battonage until malolactic fermentation finishes. After one year in barrels, it is finally aged in stainless steel.

Tasting Notes: Bright, fresh and full of energy. Inviting lemon and white peach aromas are layered with a hint of minerality. This wine is crisp and lively with citrus, stone fruit and green apple flavors. A touch of creaminess keeps it balanced, without making it heavy, and zesty acidity keeps it food friendly and refreshing from start to finish. Perfect for food lovers and happy hour sippers alike!

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Ruby Vineyard is a small, vineyard and winery in the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon’s Willamette Valley region. It is owned by the Hendricks family and is located in the Laurelwood District AVA, just west of Portland.

The Hendricks family has deep roots in Oregon. In 1843, Steve Hendricks’ great-great-grandfather, Abijah Hendricks, arrived in Oregon on the first wagon train to brave the Oregon Trail. Abijah’s adventurist spirit lives on in Steve and his wife Flora. Sharing a dream of owning a vineyard and making wine, they have explored every aspect of the winemaking process, from driving a tractor to pouring for guests in the tasting room.
