Tarra Noa Vermentino Di Gallura

Saraja ‘Tarra Noa’ Vermentino Di Gallura

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Saraja Tarra Noa Vermentino di Gallura is a delightful dry white wine from the Gallura region in Sardinia, crafted in Telti and Calangianus near Olbia.
  • The 18-year-old vines grow at altitudes of 250 to 300 meters with southeast exposure.
  • The sandy loam soil, rich in quartz stones from granitic and clayey sources, contributes to the wine’s exceptional character and reflects this distinct terroir.

Varietal Composition: 100% Vermentino

Elaboration: The training system used is the simple Guyot. Grapes are hand-harvested. The grapes are destemmed and soft-pressed at low temperatures. Clarification is achieved through static cold methods. Fermentation occurs in stainless-steel tanks at 16 to 18 °C and lasts 15 days. There is no malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on the lees for 6 months, and filtration is done naturally. Finally, the wine is aged in the bottle for 2 months before release.

Tasting Notes:  Delicate aromas with notes of myrtle and grass. The mouthfeel is Deep, intense with sea water notes.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Perched on the island’s famous Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) of Sardinia, Saraja is led by Mark Hartmann and winemaker Federico Curtaz. They cultivate vines across several key regions: Gallura (Sardinia’s only DOCG appellation), Romangia, Ogliastra, and Sulcis. Their approach blends the deep-rooted traditions of Sardinia with a fresh perspective that easily resonates with the modern palate. Signature grapes like Vermentino, Carignano and Cannonau thrive here, and Saraja’s low intervention approach allows each distinctive parcel of land to shine through. Individually, each is evocative of the coast, the scrublands, and the sun-soaked soils of Sardinia.
