Schloss Koblenz Blaufrankisch

Schloss Koblenz Blaufränkisch

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Sweet Red Wine. Dessert/Fruit Wine.
  • The Blaufränkisch grape is cultivated in Hungary and picked at a very late stage, when the berries are shrunk. The result is this full-bodied, sweet red wine which is recommended as a delicious aperitif.

Varietal Composition: 100% Blaufränkisch

Elaboration: Using regular and extensive testing in our own, state-recognized laboratory we are able to guarantee the highest level of unchanging product quality. Despite modern analytical processes we still do not go without the instinctive sensitivity of our cellar masters. The permanent controls during the various stages grape maturity and of the winemaking process adhere not only to the quality requirements of the EU but are supported by additional microbiological tests.

Continuous supervision and control of our products as well as complete documentation of the test results go without saying.

Tasting Notes: Full-bodied with notes of red berries and a delicious sweet finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Weinhaus Schloss Koblenz, which produces a variety of German and Hungarian wines, is a subsidiary of the Josef Drathen winery in the Zell/Moselle Region of Germany. The family originated in The Netherlands. The Peter Josef Drathen winery was founded in 1860 with its home in St. Aldegund and gained its current name in 1927.

Successive generations of the family have operated the winery and in 1993, a completely new winemaking facility was opened. In 1996, Tim Gesthüsen and Jürgen Zirwes assumed management of the company. Over the years, prudent business practices have led to a series of market expansions and acquisitions, including its subsidiary Schloss Koblenz.
