Siltstone Owl Ranch Sauvignon Blanc

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This Sauvignon blanc is grown at the Myers family’s Owl Ranch Vineyard in the Willamette Valley’s Yamhill Carlton AVA.
  • The Owl Ranch is located near the foothills of the coastal mountain range which receives cool western weather patterns; resulting in a softer style Sauvignon blanc, similar to a Sancerre style.

Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Elaboration: Cold fermentation took place after the addition of selected yeasts. Aged in small batch stainless steel tanks. Fined and filtered in our winery prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes: On the nose, notes of delicate apricots and candied fruit. The initial soft body is backed by bright acidity, tropical melon and flinty undertones. Finishes crisp, light and refreshing.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Siltstone Wines was established in 2000 by the Myers family in Oregon’s renowned winegrowing region, the Willamette Valley. They produce authentic Oregon wine with their estate grown Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Sauvignon blanc and Rosé of Pinot noir. All of the Myers family vineyards are farmed Certified Sustainable. Joel Myers first planted grapes in the 1960s’ and has been farming premium wine grapes professionally since 1980 with his wife Louise. They carry on that tradition today with their family.

Their sons Joey and David continue to work in the Oregon Wine industry after finding their own niches within the dynamic field. Their son John helped develop the family business and is now studying law while his wife Melissa is studying Public Health after working many vintages on the crush pad. David’s wife, Heather, manages the tasting room and marketing for Siltstone. The Myers produce about 1,500 cases of wine under the Siltstone label from Guadalupe Vineyard, Blacktail Vineyard, and Owl Ranch Vineyard. A limited quantity of their premium Pinot noir label, J. Myers & Sons, is blended from select barrels after exceptional vintages.
