St Innocent Pinot Blanc Freedom Hill Vineyard

St. Innocent Pinot Blanc Freedom Hill Vineyard

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Freedom Hill is located in the foothills of the coast range 10 miles southwest of Salem, Oregon.
  • Small production, excellent quality Pinot Blanc from Oregon winemaker Mark Vlossak.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Blanc

Elaboration: Freedom Hill is located in the foothills of the coast range 10 miles southwest of Salem, Oregon. The Pinot Blanc vines were planted in 1993 and 2008 on well-drained very old sedimentary clay loam. It has a southeast exposure at an elevation of 475’ and benefits from heat rising off the valley floor during the day and cool ocean breezes at night. The must was fermented 24% in an Acacia cask and 76% in tank and aged for eight months on the lees. Stainless Steel & Neutral Oak fermentation.

Tasting Notes: This is high-toned with pear drop highlights. Think bananas, pears, maybe over-ripe apples—a ripe mix of fruits with penetrating aromas and lingering flavors. It’s an enjoyable bottle at the moment, but may not age well so best to drink up. – Wine Enthusiast
