PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Stefan Meyer’s family has roots in Reitburg dating back to the 1700s. Their estate, now 16 hectares across 70 plots, began with 4 hectares when Stefan’s grandfather, Karl Hermann Meyer, founded it in 1954, prioritizing quality over quantity.
Stefan took over in 2011 after training at Bassermann Jordan. He honors his grandfather’s traditions by hand-harvesting, eliminating chemicals, and pursuing organic certification from Ecovin. His vineyards thrive with natural grasses and cover crops, contrasting sharply with neighboring conventional vineyards.
Stefan produces outstanding wines, including Riesling, Portugieser, Sankt Laurent, Dornfelder, Kerner, Chardonnay, and his exceptional old-vine Silvaner. This vibrant wine is spontaneously fermented in stainless steel and bottled in liter-sized bottles, reflecting both the rich soils and sustainable farming practices.
