Susana Balbo Crios Malbec

Susana Balbo ‘Crios’ Malbec

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This Malbec originates from the renowned Valle de Uco region, in Mendoza.
  • The vines thrive at an average elevation of 1,050 m/3,445 ft above sea level, which contributes to the wine’s exceptional quality.

Varietal: 100% Malbec

Elaboration: The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented at a maximum temperature of 28-31°C (82-88°F) using selected yeasts. Maceration lasts for 15 to 20 days, and both open and closed pump-overs are employed, along with délestage at various stages of fermentation. The wine is then aged for 8 months in third- and fourth-use French oak barrels, with 40% of it undergoing this aging process.

Tasting Notes: A fresh, pure expression of the variety that displays aromas of violets, cherries and spices. A fruity wine with balanced acidity on the palate, notes of ripe red fruits and a subtle hint of oak.
