Susana Balbo Barrel Fermented Torrontés

Susana Balbo ‘Signature’ Barrel Fermented Torrontés

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This Torrontés is the first of its kind, made from grapes grown in Paraje Altamira, Valle de Uco, Mendoza.
  • The vines flourish at an average elevation of 1,050 meters (3,770 feet) above sea level, which enhances the wine’s exceptional quality.

Varietal: 100% Torrontés

Elaboration: The grapes are hand harvested and then cooled down to 6°C (43°F). They undergo destemming and maceration in the press with dry ice for 2 hours. After that, pressing occurs at low pressure, followed by fining. Fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels using selected yeast strains. The wine is aged exclusively in new French oak barrels for 6 months, during which we perform weekly bâtonnage to stir the fermentation lees.

Tasting Notes: A golden colored Torrontés with bright reflections. The nose is fragrant and complex, with hints of tropical fruits (especially lychee), citrus notes (such as lemon peel) and delicate floral aromas. The mouth is harmonious, with a balanced acidity that goes with some intense fruit flavors. It has a good, round body and a silky texture.
