Zaha Cabernet Sauvignon

Zaha Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Planted at high density, 7000 plants per hectare.
  • Zaha, which means “heart” makes reference to the passion that moves us to produce these wines in the Geographic Indication of Paraje Altamira.
  • Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most widely planted varieties in Argentina.

Varietal Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Elaboration: Harvested in three different moments in order to achieve contrasting profiles in the fruit set at each point. The first moment, in mid-march, adds to the floral and fresh herbaceous profile. A week later solid and refined tannins start to take place alongside deep blackish color. In the last moment the fruity profile is enhanced alongside with concentration and mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes: Zaha Cabernet Sauvignon is a long-lived wine, black fruit aromas and green bell pepper characterize it. Marked tannins in the palate alongside a juicy plum mouthfeel. Long and complex finish.

The diverse soils of Paraje Altamira include patches of sandy, rocky and silty soils dispersed throughout the vineyard. At the moment of harvest, each soil profile imparts distinct aromatic and flavors to the fruit – floral notes in the sandy patches, stony minerality in the rocky areas, and dark fruits in the silty soils. The combination of these profiles lends excellent complexity to the final wine. While rainfall is usually low, irrigation is provided by snowmelt from the Andes. Because the Uco Valley was once a riverbed, gravel in the topsoil promotes good drainage.
