Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Duelecci Ovest

Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Duelecci Ovest

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Brunello di Montalcino RISERVA Docg of Tenuta di Sesta has always been the final result of an accurate agronomic work in the three best vineyards registered in the Brunello Register present in the company.
  • Since the Duelecci vineyard was the best among these for several years, it was decided to dedicate this prestigious bottle to it.
  • The vineyard has an excellent exposure, extending on the gentle slope of a hill on the southern side of Montalcino where all the vineyards of the property reside.

Varietal Composition: 100% Sangiovese Grosso

Elaboration: The Riserva Duelecci will be produced, depending on the seasonal trend, either in the east or in the west of this vineyard: in fact the very stony soil on the east side lends itself to this destination in the cooler years, while on the west side the soil less rich in skeleton expresses its qualitative potential at its best in the driest years. The form of farming is spurred cordon and the fruit is harvested manually. Soft pressing of the grapes, duration of maceration about 25 days, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel vats at a controlled temperature. It is aged 35 years in 30-35hl Slavonian oak barrels and spends 12 months in bottle prior to release.

Tasting Notes: The nose is ethereal and intense, ample, spicy, hints of undergrowth, humus and mushrooms. The palate is enveloping, robust, soft, dry, velvety tannins, balanced and very intense, persistent and elegant.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Since 1995 the winery has been managed by Giovanni Ciacci, who has since been joined by his children Andrea and Francesca in the areas of business and agronomic management. For the Ciacci family, traditional ageing in big oak barrels and renewed vineyard management based on climatic changes and in favor of the territory constitute the best strategy to obtain wines that best express the territory of Montalcino.

Their property extends over about 200 ha including 30 ha of vineyards of which 13.07 ha are registered to D.O.C.G. to produce Brunello di Montalcino, 7. 4 ha to Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C. and 10.86 ha are registered to S. Antimo D.O.C.. The remaining area is mostly covered by olive groves, 45 ha and grain, 55 ha.
