Tenuta di Sesta Rosso di Montalcino
WHY WE LOVE IT
- You know the buzz surrounding 2021’s from Tuscany, and this “baby Brunello” from the traditional Tenuta di Sesta estate is a knockout.
- It comes from Sangiovese Grosso grown at 280 – 350 m above sea level with southern exposure and sits between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate.
Varietal Composition: 100% Sangiovese Grosso
Elaboration: Grapes are destemmed, gently crushed and cold-macerated for 15-18 days prior pressing. Alcoholic and Malolatic fermentations take place in stainless steel temperature controlled tanks
Tasting Notes: It shows an intense ruby red color and reveals all its exuberance with notes of red fruit and blackberry on the nose. On the palate, it is pleasing and well-orchestrated with good length and without aggressive tannins. Color ruby red. Scent intense, broad bouquet, fruity (red fruits), elegant and spicy (black pepper). Soft with pleasant tannins, balanced, intense and elegant.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Since 1995 the winery has been managed by Giovanni Ciacci, who has since been joined by his children Andrea and Francesca in the areas of business and agronomic management. For the Ciacci family, traditional ageing in big oak barrels and renewed vineyard management based on climatic changes and in favor of the territory constitute the best strategy to obtain wines that best express the territory of Montalcino.
Their property extends over about 200 ha including 30 ha of vineyards of which 13.07 ha are registered to D.O.C.G. to produce Brunello di Montalcino, 7. 4 ha to Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C. and 10.86 ha are registered to S. Antimo D.O.C.. The remaining area is mostly covered by olive groves, 45 ha and grain, 55 ha.
