Tenute Capaldo Goleta “Greco di Tufo”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Tenute Capaldo’s Goleto “Greco di Tufo” is a prestigious, single-vineyard white wine from Campania, Italy.
- It is crafted from old Greco grape vines that are over 30 years old.
- The grapes are cultivated near sulfurous mines in unique volcanic soils rich in sulfur, located near Tufo.
- Goleto is aged in oak tonneaux and amphora, which enhances the wine’s depth and highlights its ancient terroir and the high-altitude climate in which it is grown.
Varietals: 100% Greco
Elaboration: Hand harvested. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. 80% of the cuvee is then aged in gently toasted large tonneaux oak barrels. The remaining 20% in amphora. The finished wine is aged in bottle for an additional year prior to release.
Tasting Notes: Complex aromas of toasted hazelnut, vanilla, oak, and wet stone, with ripe fruit like yellow apple, apricot, and peach, alongside herbal notes of thyme, all supported by racy acidity, a saline minerality, and a rich, velvety texture from amphora/oak aging, leading to a fresh, long finish with almond hints. It’s a full-bodied, vibrant Italian white wine known for its depth and balance.
