The Set Wines Pinot Noir

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Set Pinot Noir is a highly regarded, cool-climate red wine produced in the Sta. Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County, California.
  • Crafted by sibling winemakers Christopher and Billy Hines from their family’s Hines Drum Canyon Vineyard.
  • Excellent to drink now or cellar for a few years.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: This wine is a field blend of Pinot Noir clones 115, 667, 777, and Pommard from Hines Drum Canyon in the Sta. Rita Hills. It fermented for 13 days in concrete tanks, aged for 7 months in neutral French oak, and spent 1 month in stainless steel before bottling.

Tasting Notes: This Pinot Noir is light, bright, and aromatic, featuring a silky texture and lively acidity. The fresh fruit and savory notes truly shine. Drink at cellar temperature or slightly chilled.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The Set is a boutique winery in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA of Santa Barbara County, California, founded by brothers Billy and Christopher Hines. Known for its cool-climate wines, the winery blends California’s vibrant fruit with Southern hospitality, rooted in Louisiana values.

Located near the Pacific Ocean, the vineyards benefit from cool breezes, morning fog, and warm sunshine, allowing grapes to thrive. The Set prioritizes organic and biodynamic practices, focusing on soil types, sun exposure, and vine orientation. Inspired by the Burgundian tradition, the estate creates wines that reflect both the heritage of the grapes and the unique character of the Sta. Rita Hills region.
