The Set Red Table Wine

The Set Wines Red Table Wine

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Red Table Wine is a vibrant, medium-bodied California blend crafted by The Set Wines with fruit sourced from the Sta. Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County.
  • A unique mix of Gamay (which brings bright, bouncy red fruit) and Syrah (which provides bold, peppery depth and structure).
  • Farmed organically with minimal intervention, this sustainable winemaking draws inspiration from the vineyard setting and terroir.

Varietal Composition: Gamay, Syrah

Elaboration: This vintage is a blend of Gamay and Syrah, aged in neutral French oak—Gamay in 228-liter barrels and Syrah in 500-liter barrels. Both were fermented with whole clusters in a concrete tank using indigenous yeast, with light extraction from the skins over 12 days.

Tasting Notes: Bold and spicy with tannins that mean business, fresh, with no over-extraction. Perfect for game, red meat, or anything cooked over an open flame.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The Set is a boutique winery in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA of Santa Barbara County, California, founded by brothers Billy and Christopher Hines. Known for its cool-climate wines, the winery blends California’s vibrant fruit with Southern hospitality, rooted in Louisiana values.

Located near the Pacific Ocean, the vineyards benefit from cool breezes, morning fog, and warm sunshine, allowing grapes to thrive. The Set prioritizes organic and biodynamic practices, focusing on soil types, sun exposure, and vine orientation. Inspired by the Burgundian tradition, the estate creates wines that reflect both the heritage of the grapes and the unique character of the Sta. Rita Hills region.
