The Set Wines Syrah
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The Set Syrah is a recently released artisanal red wine from Santa Barbara County, California, crafted by The Set Wines (founded by Louisiana natives).
- It is known for its bold, spicy, and fruit-forward profile married to Southern-inspired, food-friendly elegance.
- The wine is sourced from their Home Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills.
Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah
Elaboration: The cuvée blends Syrah from two blocks at Hines Mail Road Vineyard in Santa Barbara County, using clones 470, 877, 383, and Alban. One block was destemmed; the other was fermented with stems. Each lot was fermented in concrete tanks and aged in 500 L neutral French oak barrels before being blended and rested in stainless-steel tanks for 1 month prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes: Bold and spicy with an abundance of dark fruit and a savory edge. Prominent notes of blue and black fruit, hallmark spices, and a meaty texture characterize this powerful Syrah.
