Three of Cups "Le Chariot" Blanc

Three of Cups “Le Chariot” Blanc

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Three of Cups Le Chariot Blanc or “the chariot white” is a a white wine blend from the Columbia Valley in Washington state.
  • The vineyards that produce these grapes are Stillwater Creek, Les Collines & Cameron Ridge.

Varietal Composition: 38% Sauvignon Blanc, 26% Semillon, 23% Riesling, & 13% Albarino

Elaboration: The grapes are grown in soil that is mostly sandy loam. Traditional vinification. Fermentation in stainless steel, temperature controlled vats. No oak.

Tasting Notes: The nose is fresh and aromatic with a blend of tropical and floral notes. We note guava and passionfruit combined with citrusy notes of lime and grapefruit. There are also hints of white flowers (elderflower and jasmine perhaps) that add a touch of elegance to the aroma. The wine is light to medium-bodied, with a refreshing acidity that balances the fruit flavors with a subtle hint of peach with a crisp and zesty finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Founded in 2013 by two friends (Lisa & Mike), Three of Cups is a winery based in the Artisan Hill area of Woodinville, Washington, producing limited quantities of premium wines. Lisa and Mike share a passion for wine and food and wanted to expand that beyond their friends and family.

Their fruit is sourced from vineyards throughout Washington and Oregon; predominately in the Red Mountain, Columbia, and Walla Walla Valley AVA’s. The goal is to produce wines that express the very best of the regions the grapes are source from, the conditions of the vintage year, and pair well with food or on their own by the glass. All wines are produced in small batches with careful attention to varietal characteristics using minimal intervention.

The name, Three of Cups, comes from a tarot card, which symbolizes conviviality, agreement, harmony, abundance, and friendship – all things that happen naturally with wine and carries the meaning of joyful social contact. All of which are very important to Lisa and Mike.
