Thurston Wolfe Albariño

Thurston Wolfe Albariño

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The fruit is sourced from the Crawford Vineyard near Prosser in Yakima Valley. Limited production

Varietal Composition: 100% Albariño

Elaboration: After harvest, the fruit was crushed and allowed to cold soak on the skins overnight before pressing. After settling, the juice was cool fermented in stainless steel for 30 days. After cold stabilization and without fining, the wine was then filtered and then bottled.

Tasting Notes: Classical aromas of an Albariño including pineapple, mango, apricot, and pear with some snappy minerality on the finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Thurston Wolfe is a small family winery owned by Wade Wolfe and Becky Yeaman, specializing in unique red & white table and dessert wines. Grapes are sourced from growers located in the Horse Heaven Hills and Yakima Valley AVA’s at sites best suited to the individual varieties. These sites and grower relationships were developed through Wade’s extensive contacts and knowledge of the region dating back to the late 1970’s.

Thurston Wolfe’s grape sourcing is based on Wade’s 40 years experience working with Washington State’s grape growers and vineyards. As the grape buyer first for Ste. Michelle in the 1980’s and later at Hogue Cellars in the 1990’s, he gained invaluable knowledge about the growing regions as well as the skill of the growers and quality of fruit.
