Tonino Rosso Frizzante
WHY WE LOVE IT
- A refreshing frizzante from a hilly area in the province of Trapani in Western Sicily.
- You’ll notice this is off-dry, and the reason for this is the addition of small amounts of Muscat from the famously endangered heritage vines on the island of Pantelleria.
- Low in alcohol at 8% for your day-drinking pleasure!
Varietal Composition: 60% Nerello Mascalese, 40% Nero d’Avola
Elaboration: The harvest is done by hand. Carbonic maceration for a period of 5-6 days at a temperature of 72 -77° F. Fermentation occurs in sealed, pressured tanks. The juice is allowed to ferment until the desired alcohol level is reached.
Tasting Notes: Red fruits and Mediterranean flowers, medium sweet and harmonic on the palate with a good aromatic persistence. Serve slightly chilled.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Curatolo Arini is one of Sicily’s most historic wineries, and well-known for producing complex examples of Marsala. The Tonino line of Frizzante wines was created in the 1970’s for a large player in the US importation market, and we’ve “brought them back.” All three wines are frizzante and refreshingly off-dry.
