Tua Tua Pinot Grigio

Tua Tua Pinot Grigio

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The New Zealand Tua Tua Pinot Grigio is an expressive white wine from Marlborough, New Zealand, imported by Anthony Allport.
  • Designed for modern consumers seeking quality and value, it features pure fruit flavors and a minimal-intervention approach.
  • Packaged in a 1-liter bottle, it offers great value.
  • Inspired by the Tua Tua, a native coastal seashell, the brand symbolizes balance, harmony, and the interconnectedness of nature, reflecting the wine’s natural composition.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Grigio

Elaboration: The fruit is harvested early to maintain its bright acidity. Grapes are gently pressed in a controlled environment to extract juice with minimal skin contact. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats using wild and selected yeasts. The wine is aged on fine lees for several months with periodic stirring (bâtonnage).

Tasting Notes: “It’s delightfully fruited and elegantly fragrant on the nose, showing white flesh nectarine, Nashi pear, Gala apple, and floral aromas. The palate displays succulent fruit flavors with fleshy texture and bright acidity, making it immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2027.” -Sam Kim, Wine Orbit 2/25

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Tua Tua is a premium label of coastal-inspired wines from New Zealand’s Marlborough region, crafted by winemaker Ant Moore. The wines, sourced from the Southern Valleys, Wairau Valley, and Awatere Valley, are known for their bright, crisp profiles with notes of tropical fruit and minerals. The name Tua Tua is inspired by a legendary New Zealand seashell symbolizing balance and good fortune. Ant Moore, who arrived in Marlborough in 2002, emphasizes low yields and minimal intervention across 160 hectares of vineyards for maximum purity.
