  • The vineyard is in Villamagna D.O.C. Riserva, which is an important Città del Vino that, in the last few years, has distinguished itself among the others for the production of a full-bodied red wine.
  • The wine is obtained from Montepulciano grapes, from vineyards cultivated in rows with southern exposure.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The Valle Martello winery was founded by Giuseppe Masci in 1956. It is located in the village of Villamagna in the Abruzzo region on the southeastern coast of Italy. It lies just about seven miles from the Adriatic Sea and is flanked on the southwest by the Majella Mountains. The name “Villamagna” means “great mansion.” It refers to the 16th-century Archbishop Palace that overlooks the valley.

The winery is situated in the relatively tiny Villamagna DOC appellation. Since 2000, five cousins, representing a third generation, have been managing the estate. They are committed to practicing the ancient wine-making traditions of Giuseppe enhanced by the technology of today
