Vinos & Bodegas Gallegas

Arrumaco is produced by the Spanish winery, Bodegas Gallegas. It was started more than 50 years ago by Manuel Vázquez, “Manolo Arnoya,” as Arnoia Winery, a small personal project driven by a passion for good wine. Today, although it has grown into a large company, Bodegas Gallegas still reflects its humble character, its “family” essence, and its traditions.

Manolo Arnoya used to say that to make good wine you need three things: work, love, and feeling. In half a century of history, Bodegas Gallegas has not betrayed this philosophy. The humble Arnoya winery was a simple affair. Manolo, himself, traveled in a cart to sell his wine. A delicate balance is required to retain the essence of its founder’s vision while growing to five large bodegas and distributing wine to more than 40 countries.

The winery is located in Galicia in northwestern Spain. Portugal lies directly south. The vineyards cover 300 hectares and reside in three designations of origin: Ribeira Sacra, Rías Baixas, and Ribeiro. Vines from seven to 20 years old grow in calcareous, limestone soils. Planting density ranges from 800 to 1,200 vines per acre. They employ the most modern techniques of viticulture and oenology.
