Loire Properties Château de Valmer
Founded in the Loire Valley in 1872, Loire Propriétés produces and markets a wide variety of Loire wines. This group of companies consists of four cooperatives, wine cellars, a distillery, and a trading company. Annually, they market 250,000 hectolitres of wine from 5000 hectares of vineyards – the equivalent of 33 million bottles.
An estate associated with Loire Properties is the magnificent Château de Valmer, which once belonged to Charles VII. This 300-hectare estate is renowned for its impressive gardens, terraces, moats, and a troglodytic chapel built in the early 1500s. It also enjoys a sterling reputation for its wine.
With a sense of heritage, the Saint Venant family has managed to preserve one of the last cellars in the region. The 35 hectares of the vineyard surround the terraced gardens in a preserved ecosystem of forests and pastures. Six hectares are planted in the historic enclosure of the walled park.
